Public Transport App

Study Case
Overview
The Transjogja application served as a helpful tool for individuals seeking to navigate Yogyakarta using the local bus system. As an intern at Pixelz Studio, I created this case study with the aim of delving deeper into visual exploration and enhancing my understanding of user experience.
Working independently on this project, I engaged in multiple discussions with my mentor to ensure the proposed solutions were both suitable and visually appealing. Key features of this project encompassed mapping and routing, notifications, and cashless payment functionalities.

Get in touch with Transjogja
Transjogja serves as a public transportation system provided by the Jogja government, aiding individuals in navigating Yogyakarta through its bus routes. Utilizing a numbering system for routes and departures, users can opt for direct routes or transfers when traveling between locations. Unlike areas like Jabodetabek, Jogja lacks alternative transportation modes such as angkot (share taxis) or local trains.
Ride the Bus
Bunga, a college student new to Jogjakarta, finds herself navigating the city with limited cash in hand. In her quest for accessible transportation options, she decides to try out the Transjogja system. Curious and hopeful, she embarks on her journey, eager to document her thoughts and feelings about her experience with the service.
Trans Jogja has a large coverage area in Jogja, but it can be time-consuming as you may need to wait for another bus number to arrive in order to reach your destination
Sometimes it can take more time when you take the wrong bus number
Transjogja uses shelters for transit and boarding, making it cleaner and not stopping at any places. However, I found it confusing to find the shelter nearest to me.
As soon as I departed from the Transjogja shelter, the bus clerk asked me where I was going and then told me which bus number to take. Sometimes I forgot or doubted and ended up taking the wrong bus.
When entering the shelter, you can find several amenities like information boards and other resources related to Transjogja. However, I couldn't find them when my bus arrived and the information screen was not working
The price is very cheap. At that time, I only spent around Rp. 3.500 per ride. Now, it's around 4000 for adults, which can be difficult to pay with a 5.000 or 10.000 bill. Usually, there is a sticker advising you to bring exact change
I'm not sure how much of an impact this public transportation has had, as I still see many people using private vehicles. It's sad
Information
Provide location map with bus route, bus number, bus departure
Less time consume
Reduce interaction with human and cashless
Reduce human error
Keep user aware with surrounding, give information to reduce cognitive load
Find some possible approach for this problem
I attempted to explore potential solutions for Bunga's dilemma by conducting desk research on the internet. Additionally, I examined transportation systems from other countries that have successfully tackled similar challenges, aiming to draw inspiration and insights for addressing Bunga's transportation needs.
